A great vacation read! Very light and fluffy, easy to pick up and put down.
emotional
medium-paced
Wasn't exactly hooked on this one as the 13 y/o narrator for half of the book was a bit infuriating (as teens are). But, the devastating end really sealed it for me. I hate sad endings!
Canine is a whiney smothering doormat and Joy is a brat( can be excused in light of her age. The other women were much better characters and the writing was great, but just not enough to save it. I kept skimming ahead which is never a good sign.
Devoured this over a snowy three day weekend. A quick, entertaining read, with much heavier subject matter than you'd expect. Jennifer Weiner just has a gift with writing about the relationships between female family members.
I picked up this book right after Mother's Day and after getting started on it, I realized that the themes of the book fit in with the season. Reading the relationship with Joy and Cannie brought back memories of how I reacted/acted with my mom when I was 13 and it makes me cringe. This book has lots of realistic elements to it and I really really enjoyed it for that.
Different from Good In Bed. But it's a good difference. I like that Cannie had changed -- not really who she changed in to -- but it shows how our experiences affect us and our attitudes about life.
I had so many emotions when I read this book and for that I truly love this book.

This book was slow moving because I have just been so tired that I kept falling asleep reading it. I loved the mother/daughter chapters. I think any female reader can relate with the attitudes, worries, and affections that were felt by both.
I had a hard time getting into it and liking the characters. Consequently, I was fighting the urge to stop reading in the middle, but I'm glad I hung in there because by then end I couldn't put it down.
Like all of Weiner's books I found this one tough to put down. I love it when I can't get enough of a book! It's a great follow up to Good in Bed. Fascinating to see the characters 13 years down the road. Cannie and Joy's mother/daughter struggles, told from both of their separate viewpoints, reminded me of what my mother and I went through (groan) and what Delaney and I will probably go through in about ten years (double groan). There was one thing I didn't like near the end of the book but I won't write about it here for fear of spoiling this one for anyone. Email me if you want to know what it is!
I was disappointed in this book. I was annoyed with Cannie and annoyed with Joy. I was eager for the book to be over.
