Jennifer Weiner

This is the follow-up book for Jennifer Weiner's Good in Bed. It's 13 years later and I don't think that I need to read Good in Bed because it's discussed throughout much of the book. At this point in her life, Cannie Shapiro is happily married and is preparing for the bat mitzvah of her beloved daughter, Joy. Unfortunately, Joy is growing up and the students at her private school tell her about her mother's book. She reads it and chaos ensues. This book has some touching things to say about the scars that adults carry into the rest of their life from childhood and also about the pain that parents feel as their children grow up and away from them.

I didn't like this one quite as much as her others, but an unexpected plot twist bumped my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

This was a great audiobook. I loved that there were different narrators for the mother and daughter. This is the follow up to "Good in Bed" and deals mostly with the relationship between 13 yr old Joy and her mother.

Honestly I feel like this book did not need to exist. The first one was really good but this just seemed unnecessary. The relationship between Bruce and Candice was weird and the whole situation with there daughter was just strange. The fact that she didn’t punish her daughter at all for all the bad crap she did just made me angry. And of course I HATED the ending because that was just unnecessary.

Took me a long time to get into the book but when I did it was a fun read. Nothing earth shattering.

This was a very disappointing follow-up to a book I very much enjoyed.

A little heavy on the faith side of the characters, and it's a slow read.
