Another enjoyable, light, fun read. I got frustrated with tween Joy throughout most of the book, thinking that despite her early teen angst, she could have been more understanding of her parents and more kind. I also thought the death at the end of the book was unwarranted and an unnecessary plot point, as the only major part it played was to force Joy to change her opinions of her family and the world around her, a sudden change that seemed forced.
Fluffy girly book. I got a copy for free from a garage sale. Good summer read.
fast-paced
a sequel to good in bed - takes place years later. it is really good, but there's a surprising twist to it that threw me off. it was an excellent book and i highly recommend it. i like reading sequels because i like to know how characters end up!
Another great one by Jennifer Weiner. But also the first one of hers that the ending surprised and saddened me! However, it just made it more real and her characters were full of depth as always. I hope there's a 3rd Cannie book!
This is the follow up to Good in Bed. It is basically about the relationship between Cannie and her daughter Joy. Now that Joy is 13 years old, Cannie cannot relate to her daughter. Joy has a lot of unanswered questions about her mother's past, especially after reading her mother's book (which is suppose to be fiction, but it is clearly not). The chapters rotate from Joy's perspective to Cannie's perspective. I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down.
A follow up to [book: Good in Bed], this was a sweet novel that mostly covered the awkward relationship between a pre-teen daughter and her mother. While I did like the book overall, I found it a bit shallow. I loved the depth of Cannie's character in Good in Bed, but with the flipping between Cannie & her daughter, Joy - I felt like neither character was able fully bloom. The book referred back to Good in Bed so often (as a fictional retelling of Good in Bed in the book) I wondered why the author didn't package the two together. We read Good in Bed, Ms. Weiner. This reader wanted to read a new book.
The ending nearly killed me, but Weiner is still one of my favorites.
I want to forget this book ever happened to me. Seriously. Good in Bed is one of my favorite books and this RUINED it for me.
