I enjoyed her other books, but I abandoned this one after nearly 100 pages. Simply wasn't interesting enough to spend the time reading it.

Loved this book. It was nice to visit with old friends and see how their lives continued. I wasn't prepared for the tears that came and like in real life, wish some things could have been different for my friends.

Quite possibly my favorite book I've read of hers.

The first novel I read of Jennifer Weiner was Good in Bed and I loved it. However, it's been many years have passed since I read it so many of the details of the first novel are hazy. I believe this was actually a good thing as I was able to enjoy the novel on its own merits.

I really give this 3 1/2 stars. I didn't care for part of the conclusion of this book. I felt it was unnecessary to put the character through that. However, overall it was a great story about how a daughter figures out about her mother's life before she was born.

Two words: LOVED IT!!!! I started this book, then realized it was a sequel to Good In Bed so i stopped reading it and reread Good in Bed (GiB). I'm SO glad I did that - I first read GiB when it came out - over 10 years ago. There was so much I had forgotten. I restarted Certain Girls and fell in love with it. Each chapter switches between Cannie's point of view and her daughter's, which was occasionally difficult for me because I had to shift thinking and remind myself who was now talking in first person. Jennifer Weiner really spoke from each person so beautifully. I fully recommend this book - and rereading GiB might be helpful, too!

I really liked her earlier books, but this one was awful. Just a lot of teenage and girly drivel. There's not enough substance. Her teenage daughter is mean and focused on a book that is not true, but the mother, who is overly weak and comes across as pathetic, will not tell the child the book is fiction. As a result, there are annoying characters with even more annoying relationships and a frustrating plot. I got 200 pages in and gave up. Very disappointed.

Fun, easy read.

Jennifer Weiner novels are a guilty pleasure for me...

I didn't like the first quarter (Cannie was too annoying; Joy was to stereotypical) or the last quarter (too cliche). The middle half was pretty good, though.

Maybe I would have liked it better if it wern't for the crap I'm going through right now/have been for the past 8 months...

This continuation of Cannie Shapiro's life and adventures is another great read by Weiner. As a reader, I totally related with Cannie as well as her daughter Joy - Weiner develops her characters well and you can really get into their mind sets! I laughed (really LAUGHED), I cried and I realized that the lessons Joy learns in this book are good ones for all of us to embrace and remember - adults, youth, male, female alike.
