I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. I wish there had been more flashbacks, or information about Margot’s life before. I feel like that could have informed her character in a way that made her more interesting. I felt the same way about Agatha. There just wasn’t enough information or characterization to make anyone really interesting. Even the mysterious “fall of man” family stuff fell a bit flat. Writing was good, the story was just lacking.

It was predictable, but still a good read. The ending wasn't completely easily spotted, but if you've read horror, true crime, or mystery before it is not unexpected . It reminded me of the haunting of hill house at first.

I liked the idea for this book a lot. I had read a snippet last year and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I was stoked to finally read it.
I am sadly disappointed.
It drags out from 30% to about 70% of the book. There are small things that occur, but none of them were surprising.
Maybe I just don't like books that spell out what's happening by the 8th chapter.
It was a lot of waiting around, reading about gardening and boring family history, before the MC even starts to consider what was obvious from the beginning.
It just took her way too long to have things finally click, when the answer was quite literally under her nose. It was almost painful to follow along with someone that dense.
The reason I stuck it out, was to find out WHY any of that happened. That part was maybe 10 pages long and it wasn't a satisfying answer.
So I feel like my time was wasted, and I have only felt that way about 3 other books.
The idea was great, one I'm interested in reading about, but the execution just wasn't good.
