Se, tal como o livro anterior, o segundo volume da série Bridgerton segue os padrões habituais de um romance e culmina numa união com base no amor, o desenrolar da história foi completamente diferente.

Anthony e Kate são personagens cuja dinâmica é mais interessante do que a dos seus predecessores. O enredo ao estilo enemies to lovers permite mais situações cómicas e uma maior sensação de desenvolvimento, ao nível da relação do casal, por esta não ser de amor à primeira vista.

Mesmo assim, há coisas que nem este tipo de enredo consegue justificar e a agressividade excessiva da personagem principal masculina é uma delas. Acredito piamente que não havia necessidade para tantos "torço-lhe o pescoço". Além disso, fazer de Anthony um homem que muda completamente de postura a partir do momento em que se apaixona por Kate (perante a vida matrimonial e, em particular, perante a própria Kate), apenas contribui para perpetuar a ideia de que as mulheres servem para "emendar" os seus companheiros.

Por outro lado, é feita um pouco mais de reflexão sobre a identidade de Lady Whistledown e as interações familiares estiveram bastante mais presentes. Foram estes pequenos aspetos que fizeram de Peripécias do Coração um pouco mais interessante e envolvente do que o volume anterior.

Pretty solid cute romance! I liked this one a bit more than the first book. Antony is sort of a dick for no reason sometimes but his behaviors and viewpoints that stem from his actual trauma were well done and I liked to see the character growth there. I loved Kate's writing and personality as well, she was fun to get to know.
