Nonstop gut punch the whole way through 😭 I don’t think I’ve ever read anything that had me on edge from page 1 to the end before like this but leave it to V. E. Schwab to do just that 😭

Anoshe, indeed. Right now the first take is a very strong 4.5.

Oh my God. Schwab has done it again. Here I thought I couldn’t be more invested in this plot or love these characters any more, and I was completely proven wrong.
The stakes were higher than ever, with tender moments of character developments and relationships interspersed among near-constant tense action. This connection to the characters made the action even more heart-pounding, emotionally driven, and intense.
Overall, the prose was magnificent as well, filled with recurring metaphors, motifs, and parallels that elevated the story and made each of the 600+ pages a masterpiece.
This book tugged on my heartstrings, worrying and devastating me (although I was not as devastated as I could have been). I’m glad the main four got happy (mostly) endings and that the swoon-worthy (because swoon I did) romances were endgame.
Also, I must report that Holland’s redemption arc has won me over as much as it did Lila and Alucard (perhaps a bit more).
This reminded me of the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo.
