Read this book because the author and I went to the same high school. This YA novel gave me the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series mixed with the Wild Child and St. Trinian’s movies (love a boarding school setting) vibes so I loved it. It’s not ground-breaking and there’s a lot going on with the plot but it’s a cute story I would’ve read multiple times and possibly based my personality off of in middle or high school.

Review:
This may be one of my most favorite books in terms of contemporary, and it is because of the topics discussed in this book. Despite it being about a rivalry between two gender schools, there were more topics talked about that I really enjoyed. Not because it's pretty, but because it was surprising to see this being tackled in a book like this. We see Doe being supper passionate about the rivalry between the two schools, but all of that is heightened whenever the schools announce that there will be a merger between the two schools, with Doe does not agree with. The school was founded on the basis that girls can come to this school to excel in academics and in fields that were mostly dominated by men and to help those girls succeed and become an example of how girls can also academically excel. Having this merger means that the meaning behind the school that they go to will forever change, and Doe is not happy about that. But there is an important aspect that Doe does not consider, and it is about trans/nonbinary students. What happens to them? Does being an all-exclusive gender school leave out those who are trans or nonbinary? I was shocked but was happy that conversations like this are being discussed in books, especially as someone who identifies as she/they. Putting that aside, I really enjoyed the romance building in this book and everything about it. It filled me with so much joy.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I have to wait 9 MONTHS for this book to actually come out?! I am so frustrated that I cannot physically have this book in my hands at this moment. I decidedly randomly that I start this book last night at 10 pm. Do you know what it got me? Staying up way past my bedtime and reading throughout my workday.

I couldn't put this book down. I was obsessed with the characters, the romance, and the plot. I fell for Wells the way any girl would do and I'm not mad about it.

I loved the pranks that each school did. I loved the growth of the characters throughout the book. I'm a sucker for the faking dating trope and this book did not disappoint.

I cannot wait to read this book again, and I will probably re-read it soon.

Oh my god, i DEVOURED this book!!! So so so so good!! Doe was a very complex character. She was annoying, misunderstood, and had a short temper. But i think that is exactly how the author wanted doe to be!! I loved wells, and as much as i hate to admit it, three did warm up to me in the end! But that plot twist with shawn!? WHAT!!! The first 5 star read of the year!! I absolutely loved this!! 100% recommend!!

Rounded to 3 stars. I don’t like leaving bad reviews believe me, but since I went through this very fast expecting it to get better and then it didn’t…

The protagonist is insufferable, the other characters had potential but fell flat. The redemption arc for the main character + antagonist was tepid. The storyline was janky. I think EVEN if the storyline wasn’t so great, if the characters were lovable I would’ve liked it but nope not one single character in this book was likable.I’m sad because this book was on my to read list for a while :(

I’ve had my eye on this book for a while and just never picked it up, until I saw it was a borrow now on @libby.app while I was waiting for my holds!

Doe and her friends are infamous for pranking their rival school and things continue to escalate when they find out their schools are merging. Meanwhile, she schemes up a plan to fake date Wells and get back at her top rival. Plans definitely don’t go according to plan, and sometimes she has to work with who she least expects.

I enjoyed this and ended up downloading the kindle version so I could keep moving faster on it! While I didn’t always love Doe because of her immaturity, she definitely showed growth in the end.
