Stephen Graham Jones is out her outcooking that rat from Ratatouille, somehow this book was even better than My Heart Is A Chainsaw (which I also gave 5 stars), genuinely so in love with everything about this book. Jade Daniels is probably one of my favourite protagonists I’ve read about in a long time, the writing just gets me (I actually gagged around halfway through at a certain description relating to eyes) and the plot feels unique while simultaneously feeling like a nostalgic homage to its genre. If you haven’t read this what the hell are you doing??

Enjoyed this more than the first book in the trilogy. It can be a little confusing at times jumping perspectives, but it adds to the tension and confusion the characters are dealing with. A couple complaints: I wish the chapters were shorter; also, there are two characters named Rexall and Rex Allen, which felt unnecessary and very confusing.

This book was so good, but it hasn’t surpassed the first one for me. My Heart is a Chainsaw was just so good !!! But I loved this book too a lot! I love everything SGJ writes 🙂↕️
Absolutely fantastic follow up to “My Heart is a chainsaw” and I’m desperately waiting for the finale of this trilogy. It has everything, comedy, killer elk, ghosts, slashers, action, multiple povs and people getting what they deserve in the end.
What's a Slasher without a sequel? This one starts fast, stays bloody, and ends strong. If the slow-burn of the first book was off putting, or if you found Jade to be a bit much but otherwise liked it, you will like the second one more.

As good as the first, nearly. More of a classic slasher. Characters remain compelling.
