Beautiful book with beautiful story and description, magical and whimsical vibe. It's rather an easy/light read and hard to put down, done in ~5.5h. Pacing is on the faster side. It's cute and sweet at times - many of the characters are loveable. There are moments that squeeze my heart too. I appreciate the Korean folklore here. Duty, love, family, friendship, trust, tenderness at the front and foremost.

There's a lot of books that portray family and siblings love but out of the few I've read so far, this one takes the cake for glorifying selflessness and heroic values like calling upon your inner strength to defend many lives in the risk of losing your own in the process, but it is gentle heroism, it's not some marvel superhero type with orchestral music and special costumes.
It really does offer beautiful visuals and some similarity to Spirited Away and has this sort of life changing extreme opposite environments but the atmosphere is cozy in general and it's a quick read for when you're in a reading slump.

This was lovely! The first time I tried to read it, I didn't get very far into it. You definitely have to be in the mood for it. But I tried again a few months later on audio book, and I was invested!
