I only finished this because I refuse to waste a libro.fm credit. It was not interesting to me.

At first, I honestly thought this was going to be Bridgerton but with demons.

Tropes: slow burn, forced proximity, touch her and die, one bed, blood drinking.

The world is so fun. Fae and vampires actually feel chaotic and deadly. Enticing mystery woven throughout. Some really cheesy moments. I dislike Envy’s ironic jealousy, cardinal rule and how juvenile it feels. I love that all main characters are appropriately aged and that the story is in third person. The POV helps keep the twists and turns a surprise. This is romantasy junk food at its best.

It was okay.

Very slow burn romance, which is usually fine for me because then you get to explore the worldbuilding and story... but a lot of the plot devices in this book felt underdeveloped (i.e. randomly bringing up other characters never mentioned before so casually, as if they already had a prior introduction somehow. I had to double check that I was indeed reading the first book in the series because I was so confused lol.) The world building itself also felt a little lackluster, as if it was just throwing popular tropes in.
