Just like TCP, the writing is really good. Despite it being YA, this made me feel like it was above my reading level and I learned a lot of new words against my will.

Jude grew into her role very fast. She was so naive before, the drastic improvement in only 5 months would not have been believable, had it not all come crashing down eventually. It made the story much more interesting with all the politics and scheming. I had a lot more confidence in her and I grew to really like her.

I was so close to rating this 5 stars but the ending was very rushed. Too many things unfolded back to back. I get HB was trying to make them seem like a karmic series of events finally catching up to Jude but in this case, not enough detail was afforded to them so it all just felt messy. I also wish that Jude’s trauma was written in more. And as with the first book, the romance was very lacking. Regardless, I loved this so much!
