This exciting sequel delivers even more punches and monsters than the first! The Brighthalls continue to live their super lives after the losses at the end of Dormant, thought it’s taken its toll on all of them. Olivia’s struggle to balance her normal and supernormal lives comes to a head, and we get to learn even more about supernormal culture.
All this is happening while droves of monsters plague Portland, Mountain of Ash continues doing nefarious deeds, and the Council is investigating the family’s connection to Emma’s betrayal!
The new character Six—sent by the Council to investigate the Brighthalls—might be my new favorite character. I won’t spoil her backstory or ability, but her character is such a cool and original idea, and it’s so great to see her grow.
Also, that cliffhanger ending! Can’t wait to read Emerge!
