This was an 'uphill ride' kind of book. The characters intertwined with each other really well, and as the story goes on, it gets very exciting and made me want to find out the ending as fast as I could. It's a relatively short read IMO and I was super into it. And holy heck, that ending! Mindblowing and frankly, it pissed me off in a good way. It seemed such a clear cut conclusion but it ended up NOT being that. I am at a loss for words.

fun and easy to read.

at first I thought I didn't like the ending, but then I was like 😧 and I did ended up liking it.

the domestication in this translation was quite visible, there moments where I caught myself thinking what was said in the source text, I'm assuming it could be annoying to someone who knows a lot about Japanese culture.

Compelling enough that I finished it, but unfortunately I think something was, quite literally, lost in translation here. There were typos in names, and with the large cast of characters and the author frequently switching from using first named to last names, I often had to stop and flip back to figure out which character we were following. I also disliked the reveal at the end, it made the whole mystery element feel cheap and misleading.
