For a debut novel, I thought this was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the writing style. It kept my interest and even had me a little anxious during parts. There’s a lot of characters, drama and flashbacks to keep the story moving. My only complaint was the ending. The last few sentences are very ambiguous and the “swallowing” thing seemed a bit far fetched. I may have ranked it a half star higher if those two things had resolved a bit cleaner.

Overall, it made for a great summer page turner. Would be a good one to take to the pool/beach.
