Aaaa..... Wellllll....... No...

Shane's brothers are murderous a}%s. Actually his whole family are. So he has some idea to make himself too valuable by f#*^+}~ a big alien cat in a kind of intergalactic reality game show??? Yeah, bet the family will be so proud after this intergalactic Paradise Hotel. The one thing missing is booze, the got exhaustion instead...
Shane is a bit muddy about the details, but by winning by not winning the competition he will be able to have it all. A nice career, his family's adoration, staying alive... That sort of thing. So he has to entice the big cats, but not to much. He has to let them catch him an have their way with him, but not...

Well you get it. I spent about 3/4 of the book wishing he'd made up his mind. Then he obviously did,
Spoiler but didn't want anyone to know until his competitive streak came out to play when someone else might win what he didn't want to win...

In the course of the story Shane was dummiefied. He started out as a resourceful capable person suspicious of the world. In the end he was a bumbling naive mess far removed from his previously self.

I really liked the idea of the mate hunt and I've read other stories on the theme that were good. This was not executed as well as it could have been. I was actually a bit bored, thought about shelving, but it was short and might pick up...

So, I can just see the author having a fantasy of running through the woods and being pounced on and ravished/ravaged by a hot feline. If the image is appealing (ahem) you'll enjoy this. The whole rest of the story was created as a scaffolding for this scene, and it doesn't make much sense. But then, it doesn't have to, does it?

Sometimes withholding information from the reader is crucial for an interesting plot, sometimes it's just confusing. Unfortunately, this book had way too much of the latter.

It was hard to understand what the hunt actually was (and what Shane's goal was), because we only got crumbs of information doled out much too sparingly. It was only about halfway or two thirds into the book that I started to feel like I sort of knew what was going on, and honestly I'm still confused about some of the details. I found the relationship interesting and loved the survival and chase scenes, but overall the book just didn't hit the mark for me.

This is a case where I like the way the story is written, but I am not sure about the story itself. I wanted to like the story more. I really liked the end. Very sweet, which is not unlike the rest of the author's works.

The secondary characters seem a little flat and really didn't add much in way of the story. In some ways the secondary storyline ended in a cliff hanger.

An interesting quick read this book has a great story line and some twists that I didn't expect, Shane's planet has a fascinating way of life with killing family members to take over so I could see why the hunt would be an easier risk to take. The hunt was great from the first moment and despite how short it is, managed to have some great world building and development between the mcs. Lore and Shane were a lot of fun, with incredible chemistry and steamy scenes. I loved the ending! Happy outlook to the future for these two, I adore how the Cats live in the trees and the exploration of the planet was a lot of fun. I just wish there was more as its so good xx

Not exactly a shifter story, more like alien felines.

I was kinda hoping for a threesome with Fallon, but him being uber naughty worked too :D
