This book is the typical high school rom-com cliche, but make it sapphic. With a not-a-prom-queen material protagonist, her super cool and quirky love interest, a bunch of loyal friends, and an evil cruel mean girl antagonist who you want to punch in the face.
I forced myself reading the first half part of this book because I despise one of the cis-het man character (Jordan, I'm talking about you), but then I ended up loving him and cheering him on, urggg 🙄 in my defense, he really portrayed himself as a audacious jock at first.
And the ending, I actually love the ending!!! Amanda and Liz was soooo cute together. I squealed so much and I couldn't stop smiling. But I feel like this type of story is forgettable and I won't really remember how good it is in the future, you know? Hence the 3 stars.

I honestly loved all the topics discussed and all the different relationships. I felt like that was really relatable(the friendships). I thought the romance was super cute and it wasn’t the center of the story. This is mostly just a story about a black lesbian coming into herself and being more confident, which I just love and am happy there are stories like this.

“And I know then what I've always known: Campbell is never going to make a space for me to fit. I'm going to have to demand it.”
Nonetheless, Mack and Liz are an adorable couple.
I also liked that the main character had a realistic development. She grew at her own pace and did not change her whole personality.
It was a nice and easy read with a wholesome story.
“I don't believe in fairy tales and love at first sight and all that, but for just a second, I think this girl and those eyes and the way her freckles dot the entire expanse of her face are cute enough to make a believer out of me.”

Gabi and Liz's relationship was the best thing out of the book in how when you think about it it's quite complex
When I first got this book I got it cuz I heard everyone saying it was good but didn't realize it was a queer book so that surprised me in a good way
Overall look forward to reading more of the authors books
