Obsessed

I absolutely adored the first in the series and somehow this one was even better. I laughed and cried and was in the edge of my seat. Can't wait to start the third!

The second installment in the Nina Guerrera series by @isabellamaldonado keeps the suspense and adrenaline from the first book. This time, Nina must work to find who is killing entire families - including children - before more precious lives are lost.

The detail as to police work is all there, the limitations of rank, the department policies and bureaucracy, and how they many times get in the way of solving a case.

Nina is an amazing main character, if you've read the first book you know how much she's been through and her tenacity is one of her better qualities but by no means the only one.

I love this series! Has action and suspense and tons of interesting back story for out FMC! Hoping they let her explore her romantic life a bit in the next one but I get why she hasn’t yet.

I sincerely enjoyed The Cipher but this sophomore novel did not measure up. For one, I thought the story was dumbed down to explain police procedures and there was entirely too much angsty filler. And the plot was so contrived to give Nina a backstory. The novel lacked the gritty plot a serial killer mystery needs. I listened to the audiobook and I must admit that although the narrator performed well enough, I found her annoying. For audiobooks to truly captivate me the narrator must blend seamlessly and not be a distraction. I think I may be finished with the warrior girl.
