I usually am not in favor of cross species. Meaning shifters and vamps. But this one hooked me looking at both sides of their worlds. We get to learn about Naya and her life and struggles being a vampire princess. On the other hand we learn about
Vaughn and his family and friends. Their jobs and struggles. Then we get to see Vaughn and Naya together and......WOW! I mean the chemistry is OFF the CHARTS from the beginning and it just get better.

All that being said I wasn’t a fan of the ending. It almost seems like the author wanted to leave a cliffhanger but tried to smooth it over with an epilogue. I probably won’t read on. Especially when I saw Sawyer and Kenzie’s story will be two books. I am just not a fan of all that.

I loved this book. I loved the characters, the story-line, and the detail. It's not a story that you find in every book, so it's a fresh take on a vampire/shifter book. I can't wait to get into book 2.

Mixed feelings but overall enjoyable

I have mixed feelings on this book and debated finishing it for the first third of it or so. But by then I was invested in the characters and the storyline so I happily continued on.

Here9s the problem...while the characters are interesting and the character development is fairly well done (some vagueness and things thrown out but not expanded on) the story breaks most of the conventions in existing vampire and shifter mythology. It really creates serious dissonance for the reader to have so many elements (rules if you will) completely disregarded.

Eventually I was taken enough with the story that I told myself to get over it and I found the reading more enjoyable. Then came the not quite an ending and I was like “what the hell” again. The book ends in the middle of a huge crisis and then boom, it’s four months later and the epilogue so we don’t get the actual ending. Now clearly this is because book two is going to pick up with another couple where the crisis starts but it still feels like cheating as far as this book goes.

Decent. I wasn't expecting anything earth-shattering, but it was cute and steamy. I plan on finishing the series since I am invested in the resolution of the cliff hanger, but overall it was a decent book.
