r. f. kuang books have also been intimidating to me, but i must say i quite enjoyed it! it was great on audiobook and a great story of plagiarism & racial ambiguity.

do i think i would’ve loved reading this.. no. but it was great on audio & the perfect way for me to consume this novel.

(i also did read this for the Goodreads challenge but am i glad i did)

4.5 for this well-paced and unrelenting satire. Kuang truly has a grip on the nightmares of the industry, and all the social and racial politics at play on that stage. June’s descent was a wreck I couldn’t look away from, with a masterfully crafted conclusion.
