This was one of those books that spoke so much in such a few pages. I had to stop reading after the first chapter to adjust to the honest and bluntness of what he was saying.
We are too busy, too worried too often to truly know and obey the voice of God. We allow distractions to become more important. I love authors who aren't afraid to say the truth in an elegant way while not missing a beat scripturally.

This slim book (less than 100 pages) is also a short audio book. I liked the narrator’s voice. I was disappointed that Nouwen continually uses male pronouns for God. It was a little distracting for me. I understand that times were different though.
Overall just not much substance. I would recommend some his other books instead of this one.

Brief exploration of Jesus' command not to worry, but to seek first the kingdom. Helpful, practical, wise for those who feel hurried, but desire to cultivate a spiritual life.

Extremely short, but a wonderful invitation and an especially important reminder about how essential solitude is. I think this cuts across all religious traditions that I have personally been touched by.
