This was so sweet! Less spicy than the first one but definitely for the best! The slow burn, the angst, the drama! Only downside was the epilogue which didn't feel necessary... other than so much fun!

"you make me feel like i'm in the exact right place. nothing to run from, nothing to hide."

this is officially my new favourite from tessa, i bloody loooooved this!!
i didn't think i would as i'm always skeptical about second books and also the fact that this was £3!! £3 from the works usually means it's gonna be crap but this blew my mind honestly. i think it happened one summer was also 3 quid which is such a shock, why are these good books being sold for so cheap!! not that i'm complaining...

fox is such a good character, a very realistic depiction of what a non-commital man is like. have to admit i didn't like him in the first book but he really grew on me in this one when more of his personality started showing through - not to mention the scenes which probably made him everyone's new crush

and hannah, what an actual cutie, i love her personality! as someone who is a music geek herself i found her very easy to relate to and the initial timidness for going for what you want and slowly becoming a leading lady was so pure

"i'm jealous as fuck, you're my hannah you know?"
"come on babe, you knew it had to be huge"
"knees up, hannah."
"just be my hannah"
"once you've done some thinking and pulled your head out of your stubborn ass come find me, you're worth the wait."
"i didn't know what felt right until you - i'm holding onto the good you give me. i'm holding onto you."

Definitely enjoyed this book! Hannah and Fox had me in real tears a couple times. I think in comparison to the first book it fell a hair flat, but still definitely worth the read!

Watching Hannah connect with her deceased father and find her own power to be the main character of her life was inspiring, and Fox learning about self love and respect was an important life lesson too. Sprinkled with humor the entire way. Tessa Bailey is a rock star at romance and I look forward to future reads by her!

This one was even better than the first one. The emotion felt so much more genuine and Fox is 10000/10

Hook, Line, and Sinker is a book I picked up on a whim because I was trying something new with my Barnes & Noble buying habits; I could get a book each time I went as long as I picked one I knew nothing about, and one time I picked up this one. It was a really good story! I really liked the dynamic between Fox and Hannah, they played off of each other well and they truly made an incredibly cute couple. The conflict was realistic and something I as a reader could sympathize with, and I found myself genuinely cheering them on as they grew closer towards becoming an actual, honest-to-God relationship. Hannah walking away after that fight with Fox made me cry actual tears (my roommate was actually laughing at me for sobbing over a fictional couple, it was kinda funny). The only thing that detracted points for me was the one smut scene we got in the book - while reading through that portion, I had to pause and reread it a few times over because the wording of specific parts made it seem...almost impossible? I had to break out the yoga mat to try to figure out how exactly some of that section could've possibly worked. I really wish Goodreads did half stars because this book was a solid 3.5 stars to me, would've been 4 if I could've figured out the positioning for that backseat smut.

enjoyed the story but it was really missing the small town charm and love for the sea that the first story had. my bigger issue with this story was foxs insecurity lasting the entire book like literally up until the second to last chapter. i understand realistically this all happens over 2 weeks and his skepticism makes perfect sense but im reading a cutesy little small town romance with cartoon characters on the front i just wanted them to get together and be happy..
