I don't believe I have given any book 5 stars this year so far, until now of course. This story really captivated me. I loved the cultural and historical elements, the elements of a gothic horror, the setting, and the troubled relationship between the two main characters. I'm happy I picked this one up and I am definitely going to read more from this author. ❤️

DNF'd at 34% after the first conflict was somewhat resolved between Nena and Néstor. Since there wasnt much other "conflict" caused bc of the original misunderstanding, and I knew about it because of the duel POV, I found myself bored and annoyed rather than empathizing with the characters

for the time lost between them. </Spoiler>

Bummed to DNF because I was excited about the rest of the plot, but couldn't bring myself to care about them anymore.
