Really enjoyed this! It was a wonderful look at some Mexican history and analogy. One thing I found (I'm sure unintentionally) funny was how all these families hated the Yankees that were trying to take their land, but they didn't have the awareness to realize that they themselves trace their lineage back to Spain, so they were also land stealers at one point.

Yeah this was really good. I really liked the thematic content around the vampires (which should be fairly obvious from the title/description). Don't go into this expecting a lot of vampire stuff though - again it's much more of a allegory? metaphor? idk the word i wasn't an english major but its thematic lmao.
the romance in here was also soo good they were so sweet and the pining the angst ughhh
it was a bit slow at times for me though i started getting in a slump partway through

A wonderfully written love story. Nestor and Nena's story is one of second chances, bravery, and hope. Beautiful descriptions of the Mexican terrain and history.

This story was too suspenseful to be a romance and too romantic to be a thriller. Generally, I felt unsatisfied reading this one. The time period and atmosphere had potential, but there was not enough consistent story in either the vampire or the romance to hold my attention. I finished for a book club and ended up liking the concept of vampire in this book, but without a group I likely would have set this book down.
