I understand the mixed reviews on this book. Its definitely not for everyone. This book is dark academia and an alternate universe where magic users are a normal part of society and society reflects magic in all aspects of the world.
OF COURSE, if magic were commonplace, it would find itself being used corruptly in finance, politics, and crime.
But what I really loved about this book is that this books main theme revolves around information. How information is weaponized against those without the means to access it. How the more information you know you realize theres so much you don't know. How easily information can be altered and how that can have dire consequences. How censorship hurts the entire population. And how information is power and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

- I held off on a 5 simply because the first book (the intro book, if you will) of a series should never be its best, which means I have high expectations for the upcoming 3rd in the series.
- I, personally, loved this book. It's a bit meta in the most original way I've seen any genre meta book written before, so I really enjoyed that.
- I liked that each character was well rounded, and time was spent on developing the entire cast in the novel.
- This book is incredibly cerebral, but I love cerebral fiction so that's a win for me.
- This book basically said F*** the Hero's Journey and took its on path....and I really respect that.
You will like this book if you like:

- Dream travel
- found family
- if you want the feel of Harry Potter but want adult themes and modernized for the environment we currently live in
- If you are in a reading rut this is a good book to break it

******I half read/half listened to this book on audio. I found I preferred the audio because of the voice actors.

I thought this book was good. I found it a bit slow and dense at times making it a bit difficult to get through.
I didn’t find the plot twist super surprising but I like the way it was explained. I found Libby to oftentimes be annoying and I wasn’t a huge fan of Tristan’s audiobook narrator. I liked Nico and Parisa’s characterizations. I also liked the rivalry between Nico and Libby.
All in all it was a bit confusing at times but I was able to catch up and get on the same page. Not a bad book

I enjoyed this book but struggled to read it. (In the end, I think I just needed to be in the right mood/headspace to tackle it.) It's slow-paced, but I found the subject matter and character thoughts/conversations intriguing, until the last 5th of the book when it moves fast and exciting and couldn't put it down. That left me feeling quite content in the background and understanding I had of all the players moving forward.
I neither loved or hated anyone in particular, instead, did a good job of everyone having a purpose and being an intricate, ensemble cast. I will read the next one for sure, knowing that some parts might be dry but inevitably not? Somehow? I don't know. I still enjoyed the story AND the writing even though it didn't feel like a page turner. It made my brain happy.
Also, the bits in the short story included, Sacred Hospitality, did in fact make me chortle.

I had high expectations for this book and went into it expecting to really enjoy, however found that I got quite bored when it dragged on the middle. It did pick up at the end though, and I wasn’t expecting the ending either, which was good.

Great read! The story was so intricately written, with loads of mysteries and interesting subplots. All the characters were so unique and facetted. They were so well written! The magic was a little confusing sometimes, I think I only understood towards the end of the book what ‘wards’ were. Sometimes the book also dragged a bit, but I didn’t mind that. I definitely look forward to the next book!

I really loved Nicos and Libbys relationship, it was so funny xD. (I hope it goes the enemies to friends route) Secondly quick appreciation for all the women in the book 💗 (Except Eilif, leave Gideon alone ò-ó, he just wants to be happy with Nico.) Libby was amazing! Parisa too, she was epic!!! I also loved Reina, I just wish she had more chapters ;-;. Her povs were always so interesting. It was always just so cool to read about what was going on in their minds, because the are so insanely smart. >u< (Also Parisas povs could tell us what other people were thinking too xD)katbotelho's review against another edition

i felt like i really didnt know what was going on during this book at all until the last chapter and it was because we had a character come in and explain everything that happened. felt like less of a big reveal because there was like no way you could see it coming.
having six point of views is quite frankly exhausting and the book covering such a large period of time didnt help me understand what was going on either and bc of that it felt like the characters were just saying ‘this is a thing that happened’ instead of showing me that thing happening.
all the characters feel flat and boring and it was hard for me to like even a single one of them
if you were to ask me what happened in this book i honestly wouldnt be able to tell you

The concept of this book had a lot of promise. The characters were very unlikable at the beginning and showed some growth and I ended up liking most of the main characters. The ending was extremely unsatisfying, and I find myself frustrated that I read nearly 400 pages of this without any closure at all.
Most unsatisfying was the complete lack of plot. The book constantly talks about how the characters are so important to one another and the whole overall "plan" but nothing ever happens. There's some drama, and some sex, and some more philosophizing about nothing. Nothing actually happens in this book. The characters don't actually form any important relationships with each other, and it's very clear that the author has some favorite characters. Reina has no importance, and might as well not exist. The writing is pretentious for no reason, and says nothing of importance while taking up pages and pages for a single conversation. I don't need to hear Callum wax poetic for the hundredth time with Tristan shrugging the whole time. There is no purpose to the conversations they have.
We also never really get answers about the magic system. Why do people have certain specialties but can apparently do other magic too? One character in particular is said to have a certain power that he hasn't even demonstrated in the scenes that the reveal references, and that power is never important despite being supposedly very rare.Why does the Society set up this elaborate way to gain more magical power by killing one of these initiates when they could just kill regular medeians? What's the difference between a medeian and a witch?
Overall, I would NOT recommend this book. There are far too many dark academia/fantasy books with interesting themes to waste time on Atlas Six.
