🌶️🌶️.5/5

From the outside, my life was rock solid. So why couldn’t I shake this unease? This feeling that I was missing something…I was off-kilter and didn’t know how to find steady.

We were two sides to the same coin. Two people trying to find their way back to centre.

“I don’t know what to say,”
“You don’t have to say anything. You’re listening.”

🏞️ First person dual POV
🏞️ Fifth in a series following the Edens
🏞️ Lyla’s life is her job, until the day she is attacked while hiking. Vance’s life is his search for a killer who may just be the same man that attacked Lyla.
🏞️ Forced proximity
🏞️ Mystery
🏞️ All the chemistry
🏞️ Spice 🥵
🏞️ Nickname
🏞️ Well established secondary characters; Winslow & Griffin (Book 1), Memphis & Knox (Book 2), Talia & Foster (Book 3), Eloise & Jasper (Book 4), Mateo (Book 6), Anne & Harrison (Short story 4.5)
🏞️ MC growth; trauma/past, priorities, self worth, trust.
🏞️ Epilogue
• MMC’s past/family wasn’t fleshed out much.
• Not sure about how the mystery played out.
With a loving daughter to testify Cormack wouldn’t have been given a huge sentence. Yet he sentenced himself, and the daughter he loves, to a life of running and not living. It doesn’t track when he cared so much for his family. It also doesn’t seem realistic for Lyla to keep this secret. <spoiler\>

⚠️ Parental abandonment, toxic relationships (past), injury/injury detail (moderate), pregnancy, violence/assault (explicit), death.
