Kind of slow, especially for a novella. The first half of the book feels like a lot of wasted setup, though I appreciate the backstory about the Paladins. As is often the case, a lot of valuable history has been lost in the Witchlands. Minor spoiler: How many of the major players in the full-length books are Paladins reborn, either with or without memory of their past lives?
