Overall Vibes: Conclusion of a Fantasy Isekai Timeloop
Hot Sauce Scale: 2.5 (raunchy commentary but all sex scenes are fade-to-black)
This is the sequel to How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying. My full review for that is here if you want an idea of what to expect from this duology. tl;dr it's smart-ass footnote commentary in a fantasy isekai. I’m not going to get too deep into this sequel to avoid spoilers, but it does, in fact, wrap up the story in a satisfying way.

Lots of fun, if a bit slower. Plot is a lot muddier than the first book. Audiobook doesn't make footnotes as clear here. Many of the fun side characters from the previous book are given short shrift here, though many new characters are introduced. The mc's rampant horniness would feel a lot better if it were written by a woman.

It had the same pizzaz and charm as the first one but I didn't feel as engaged with this one. I think the plot just didn't do it for me for the first like 50%. It was still good and I'd recommend it to those who have read its predecessor and I think Wexler tied everything up nicely and honestly I wouldn't be mad if he wrote another one, but I did like the first one a smidge better.
Freaking love these books always. Gonna have to check out some of this author’s other works.
