Did a 14 year old write this? Genuine question like sincerely I want to know the authors age. The writing was horrendous and not worth seeing daylight. Unbelievable what gets published out here now.
i have a lot of thoughts on this. i was really depressed a few months ago and i spend hundreds of dollars on TIK TOK SHOP on those blind date with a book things and this was in one of them?????? anyways i found it in the bottom of my closet today and i cracked it open just to see what was going on and after reading the prologue i was like “there’s no way the whole book can be this bad” so i read it. LMAOOOOO HOW DOES THIS HAVE 4 STARS. the timing is so weird and the main man JARED is like,,,,,,,,,so bad???????? AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON PIP I HATE HER FOREVER. i’m so serious how is this a SERIES. who is asking for other books??????????? does the author know this book is actually published and not just on wattpad for free because there is no way this was edited. literally the vampire guy’s name is spelled wrong on the first page???? and the other grammar problems in the entire book is like,,,,way too many to miss lmao. genuinely this book is now in my trash can because even my local mormon owned thrift store doesn’t deserve to be cursed with this book.
Okay ... so the story hooked me pretty quickly, and while the writing style is not typically my favourite, I did LOVE Pip's tenacity. Some of the characters and character traits were really irritating but easy to ignore. Overall, the series was okay, finished it, and really enjoyed the ending. Probably would not read again. It's a one and done.
It was ok ig but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Pip is just straight up weird
Decent book. However I read most of the Shades of Ruin and Magic series by the same author first. It appears that the main female character in both series are almost exactly the same in both personality and vocabulary. While I do enjoy both characters, it would be better if they were not so similar in both series.
Where to start! It's been awhile since a book captivated me and made me forget that I had a family to tend to! Pip is a breath of fresh air in a genre saturated with mediocre female leads. I loved everything about her: loyalty, humor/quirkiness, determination, strength, uniqueness. Several secondary characters are also well-constructed, each with their own personality and agenda. Book 2 is definitely on my most wanted list!
