Interesting stories, well-told
This little book is an enjoyable read, collecting and fleshing out variations of the white beast tales. White beast stories are not moral stories (most of the time). The beast appears in the dark to threaten or attack humans. McCoy obviously enjoys talking to his sources, and treats them with respect. The story belongs to each teller as well as the collector who includes himself in the searching and the telling. In the end, sometimes a monster is just a monster, but a good story is far more.
