Okay, now I wasn’t expecting to actually like this as much as I did. So I’m a bit surprised here! I was experiencing FOMO from seeing all of Becca and the Books patrons reading it that I needed to try it out!

Literally straight ass smut throughout. I didn’t know if I’d like having it be Jafar and Jasmine but I actually did? I liked this city that Katee Robert created for the setting to be. The smut was pretty damn excellent as well!

Not a huge amount of plot but it’s also short and there technically still is plot. Just a lot of smut, which duh.

My only true gripe with this and it’s the thing that really got to me was the “daddy kink”. It just really skeeves me out. I just can’t handle that one thing at all.

Excited to continue reading through this series!

The smut is excellent in my opinion, but the story is meh? The whole submissive dynamic plus the penthouse felt very 50 shades. I do appreciate the ending; having Jasmine take agency and kill Ali and demand to be Jafar’s equal felt genuine and very in character. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series as fun, quick, saucy reads but I don’t expect the series to be particularly life changing.

This is a decent introductory book into the BDSM world, but not an educational one. The sexual scenes in this book give enough details to get one’s blood going. However, the world building in this book is very scarce, you get enough to know about the world they are playing in but not enough for the series. The character building is decent, there isn’t enough background for Jafar, which leaves me hanging a bit, but quite a bit about Jasmine. Overall, it feels like this book could’ve been made into a single book but it is an okay book to start a series. I would recommend this book for people who want a one-off kind of book but that could lead into a series if they want to continue the Carver City life. JUST MAKE SURE TO CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!
