I love a fairytale retelling even a dark one. This one was very good. Jafar has overthrown Jasmine’s father’s regime but to show that he truly has claimed everything, he must have Jasmine.
Jasmine and Jafar have been eyeing each other for years so him “kidnapping” her felt more like her choice. The first sex scene gave me an ick feeling, they said it was consensual but it still didn’t feel right. Then you find out Jasmine likes it that way. There is also a threesome which felt a little weird and forced. Also gave me the ick.
Overall, I really liked the book and probably will make my way through the series.

I always see Katee on TikTok and figured I'd give her a try. Some of the dynamics in this weren't my jam, but I'll keep going with the series.

Also, I listened to the audiobook and there are just some words I cannot hear out loud without giggling. Apparently my humor has not progressed past middle school.
