I found this story kind of weird and hard to keep up with, but the illustrations helped provide a better mental image.

This was my first read of Alice in Wonderland. I've seen parts of the Disney cartoon, but that was many years ago so I was really not overly familiar with the story. I feel like I might have enjoyed the book more if I were a British child in the 1800's. A lot of the jokes and plays on words went right over my head as a modern reader. There were a few instances when the time barrier didn't interfere with my understanding of the jokes and I quite enjoyed that. It's certainly a strange little story.

4/18/2020 been thinking about and I think this is really a three star from me. It was interesting but the chapters didn’t flow together. They felt choppy. The ending felt rushed. Alice felt a bit like the stereotypical dumb blond to me.
It was trippy which I liked. It was a quick read which was a plus. I liked it but comparing this to my other 4&5 stars this didn’t like they were in the same level in terms of my enjoyment. Meaning I felt Meh. I don’t think I wasted my time reading it but doesn’t mean I felt attached or elated by it.
4/9/2020 previously 5 stars: It’s was weird as its suppose to be and it was a nice break from my other books

I have read Alice many times in the past but I just got my hands on this gorgeously illustrated edition and needed to read it immediately and it was great. I love this story so much, it is so nonsensical and fun, I'm always happy to get lost in Wonderland and the illustrations in this edition were incredible. They really added to the story and the artwork was just stunning.
Not for me. It was wandering and nonsensical, but not in a fun way. It felt like listening to a small child tell a story, and you're waiting for them to get to the point, but there isn't a point. I get that it's aimed at children, but even kids understand beginning, middle, and end.
