If it wasn't so similar to Disney's The Little Mermaid I truly think it could have been something great. The small bits of siren lore you got were intriguing I definitely wanted to know more about it. Other than that it was a very cut and dry book, Celeste is TOO naive it's not even believable. There was minimal world building and a lot of telling not showing.

I have loved this book so much! One of my favorites of this year so far. We get a really interesting storyline, where Celeste is a siren and gets to meet humans, even though it is forbidden. You'll find laughter, romance, sad moments and heartwarming details that will help you believe you're living everything with Celeste, everything is new and there are many twists waiting for you ahead!

Knocked down a half star because I thought this was supposed to be a standalone???? So it's not and that's rude. Otherwise it was cute, the main character really struggles to come up with reasons that she doesn't want to kill her love interest and that was like come on, a weak enemies to lovers but they were cute. The whole end of this book was crazy and I support that.

For a debut novel, I was very impressed with this story. Celeste was a relatable and compelling heroine. The plot was well defined and all the little pieces came together.
There were a few places where things got a little repetitive but they didn’t detract from the overall story much.
I will be rereading this again in the future and waiting eagerly for the next instalment.

4.25⭐️ I have been waiting for this one to come out and it did not disappoint (except for the fact that this is NOT a standalone, I was I fact wrong again)! A story about sirens, pitates, treasure hunting and lore of a sea goddess, filled with friendship, love, betrayals and some of the best supporting side characters. A young siren princess who is navigating the familiar pressures of her royal duties and struggling to accept the life that was predetermined for her and reconciling the stories of other worlds she was taught verses the reality of those she’s meets on our journey.

Pirate little mermaid retelling? Don’t mind if I do. The end got a little hard to follow but overall enjoyed this debut. Will continue with the series.
If you’re looking for an ocean themed tale of mermaids and sirens, with shades of The Little Mermaid; then The Voice of the Ocean is the one for you. The cover art alone is so stunning, and the story is well-written. I’m not usually a huge fan of retellings, but this is really easy to get lost in.
It is left on a a cliffhanger, honestly I hope there will be a second book as this very much just felt like an introduction.
Celeste is a rebellious, siren, princess who feels as though she doesn’t belong amongst her people. She betrays her underwater kind by saving a human Prince, Raiden Sharp’s, life. Instead of sentencing her to death, they give her a mission; to assassinate the very same human that she saved. To do this, she must be transformed into a human. But is the foreign world, on land, everything she expects it to be? Is her true home above, or below, the sea?
*Gets ‘Part Of Your World’ stuck in my head* 😆 although this is obviously based more upon the original fairytale.
Thank you to Netgalley/ the publisher for an ARC, in exchange for an honest review. ✨🫶🧜♀️💖
