Angrboda, of Norse mythology, is one of Loki's wives. Here, she has her own story. Isolated witch in a cave, friend and brave, fiercely protective mother. Powerful and emotive.
If I’m being perfectly honest, I didn’t like this at about the early mid mark. I was getting really frustrated with feeling like I was reading about someone complaining about their loveless marriage. Then, as it kept going, I was falling more in love with Angrboda & Skadi, along with the unconditional love of a mother. The book had a good pace, though I think it would have been helpful to have more information as to how many years had passed so it would’ve given a better frame of mind. For instance, when Angrboda is off & traveling from location to location, it wasn’t easy to follow the time frame. I would read it again & likely will, I am happy for a happy ending, as bitter sweet as it may be.
It's really slow to start, and once it does... Eh? I wasn't really ever HOOOKED but it was alright. More of a mellow book.
As a fan of mythology, this was an entertaining read. I'm always a fan of strong, vengeful women and Angrboda did not let me down. I couldn't stop rooting for her and her children. The writing was decent and I would read more from the author.
