My friend gave me this book for my birthday.
It is a quick read. And I love it.

Oh this was so beautiful! It is a story of appreciating the little things.... I was brought to tears, I want so badly to add quotes to show how beautiful the story is but they wouldn’t make sense in just one line... but perhaps the most beautiful moment wasn’t “the dessert is beautiful... you sit on the sand dune. You see nothing. Hear nothing. And yet something shines, something sings in that silence.... what makes the dessert beautiful is that it hides a well somewhere...” “yes what makes them beautiful is invisible.”

See, to know how truly beautiful that statement above is, you must read the story.

This was the perfect story to read my little boy to sleep and I can’t wait to read it to him again when he is older.

This a very short story, so there are obviously spoilers if you read this:

This was so sad!
I tried reading this last year and it was probably not the right time for me to read it. I didn't finish it. I decided to try again this year...

That ending was so ambiguous. I know it was on purpose, but it was so sad.
It seems we're supposed to have hope and think the best but every clue leads me to believe the worst. However, there is also a strong suggestion that if the worst did happen, he survives.

I think this will be one of those stories I reread and find some new understanding each time.
This was the most poetic and bittersweet short story I've ever read.

Amazing
Something you would want to read again on regular basis
