A perfect book; wonderful voice, story, characters - it's tragic, but the characters really grow and it gives so much hope and there's so much love and it doesn't sit too heavily in any one place and you just totally fall in love with Celie and want so much for her to reunite with her sister and Walker makes you wait until the very very end but it's so sweet, perfect.

I simply did not enjoy this book. I think the book is overrated, and maybe I’ll give the movie a shot. I’m not just going to give it a good review just because it’s considered a classic.

As a black woman in my 30s, I’m not ashamed to say that I have not seen The Color Purple movie but ever since I was young I heard people ranting and raving about the movie. So, I had the book on my TBR list for the longest time, and I finally got around to reading it. Well, I was a bit disappointed. It just wasn’t for me.
