Crystal clear writing on some of the hardest things to talk about. Unfortunately, the sea of tragedy the story wades through is so deep and suffocating that after a while all pain became equal and some of the more heart-wrenching moments fall flat. I still highly recommend it - what it lacks in dynamism is made up for in the sheer, staggering force of the narrative.

Beautifully compassionate story about a Finnish woman (Anna) and an American man (Ian) in Helsinki who are trying to find their way despite their family troubles with mental illness. An excellent view of an American's struggle knowing that the U.S. is so hated, especially after 9/11, and facing a dichotomy between understanding why the U.S. is so hated and still feeling the duty to defend it.

It was alright, but not that impressive. The writing was quite confusing at times because it is written in a stream of consciousness style.
