Repetition is the mother of learning. How much would you learn if you got stuck in a one-month time loop for years and years? Well, you could become an accomplished mage and defeat a whole enemy invasion, that is what our main character, Zorian, would do...

"[Nobody wants to kill the goose that laid golden eggs,] the matriarch said. [No offense to your kind, but I trust your greed more than I trust your compassion. "

This book was an unexpected find, and I didn't expect to like it that much. At the beginning of the book, our MC, is basically an annoying pick-me, almost emo, boy. Thankfully, once he gets stuck in a magical time loop that makes him relive the same month again and again, we start seeing satisfying character growth. I am impressed by the attention put into the world-building, it is very nicely structured and the magic system is quite impeccable... and it awfully reminds me of video games and Japanese fantasy light novels, with a pinch of Harry Potter (but better).

"I have... a gift and a request," Kael said. Zorian mentally translated that as 'a bribe and a demand'.

I also commend the voice actor, Jack Voraces, his range of voices and accents (albeit a bit ridiculous), just gave every side character its own personality, so much that just by hearing the accent/voice in a dialogue I could discern which character was. At first, it was a bit annoying, especially the female voices (I always find female voices from male voice actors to be quite mocking) but once I set my own prejudices aside, I was able to enjoy it immensely.

"a secret is only as secure as its weakest link."

My favourite part is how much Zorian learn and changes as a person throughout the time loop, I can't wait to learn more about the world, the mystery of the enemy invasion, and the magic behind the time loop.

"[Yes, this indeed complicates the matter considerably,] the matriarch agreed. [My original plan was to keep thwarting the flow of the invasion until the third time traveler is forced to reveal themselves, either through sloppiness or frustration; lure them into an ambush and mindrape them into catatonia; find a perfect counter for the invasion over several restarts."

A great continuation of the book, but it ends on a really bad cliffhanger. Once finished, this will probably make my favorites list.

A satisfying fusion of progression fantasy and time loop shenanigans. The story cleverly avoids the pitfalls that usually come from messing with time with a justification that nestles seamlessly into the world and doesn't feel contrived. The plot is also remarkably cohesive for a gargantuan web serial. By the end, it's clear the author had the whole story in mind all along. Despite executing its core promise well, it has a myriad of weaknesses. If this is the type of novel that greatly appeals to you, you will likely be able to overlook its flaws and have an immensely enjoyable experience. If you are merely looking to explore new genres I would recommend Cradle as a more well-rounded entry point to progression fantasy.

If you're not familiar with progression fantasy, it's a genre where the focus is on the main character consistently growing in strength and skill over the entire narrative. You won't find much in the way of character work or anything in the way of polished prose, but, if you enjoy clever applications of magical abilities in a fleshed out fantasy world, give this behemoth a shot.
