This book was great, if a bit morbid. I thought it was a really thorough look at what happens after we die.

The chapter that detailed research on head transplants especially turned my stomach!

It was a tad dry at some points, but it was super informative and I definitely learned a lot.

Very interesting. Read this through several meals and am realizing how high my gore tolerance is. (Because boy is there a lot of it).  My favorite thing about Mary roach is that she makes nonfiction accessible. Her books are often narrative based, humorous, and lack the density that I find makes many nonfiction books hard to finish.

A wonderful, humorous read about what happens after death. Well worth the read, even so long after being published. Descriptions in this book about various decomp stages as well as how bodies are handled and looked are quite graphic, which wasn’t a problem for me, but should be taken into consideration.
