Published while Trump was still President, this author actually predicted the second impeachment trial. Kudos!
An utterly ridiculous and wildly entertaining first premise kicks off a hilarious ride full of snark--and a ripping good story (no pun intended, but it's there). Here, Trump's secret service code name is "Mastodon," a title the President loves because it makes him seem larger than life, with correspondingly big tusks. His aides distract him to want something else when he seizes upon the notion of seeing one live at the D.C. Zoo because, well, you know.
This is a wonderful rollick for all those breathing fresh air now that Trump is no longer in their Twitter feed.
Meanwhile, the invasion of Burmese pythons in Florida is a non-fictional reality. "They've eaten practically every mammal in sight—and have no natural predators." See: https://www.history.com/news/burmese-python-invasion-florida-everglades

This had me cackling - great mystery with political satire (but is it satire, or just the truth?). Brilliant.
Look, you don't come to Carl Hiaasen for great literature. This is a rollicking, silly, improbable send-up of life among the rich and somewhat famous of southern Florida. Though Hiaasen maintains his (more or less) plausible deniability by not naming names, Donald Trump as president is a major character in the novel, his form and personality unmistakable. Melania plays an even larger role here and is portrayed with great sympathy. Giant pythons are also major characters.
This book is great fun, an easy read that will not strain your mental faculties. We all need such an escape now and then and, if that's what you're looking for, I can enthusiastically recommend this one to you.

Oh, this was hilarious! Great characters, good story, and the skewering of Mastodon & Mockingbird was sooooo satisfying! LOL!

A quintessential Carl Hiaasen - biting, funny, political, where the good guys win and the bad guys always have some gruesome and/or ironic come uppance.
