National Book Award winner category for 2016 Pop Sugar challenge. Won in Children's Fiction category in 1981. Why choose a children's book? Most others that appealed to me I had already read and I am avoiding rereads unless category mandates it. Plus reading Rainbow Rowley for my YA Bestseller got me thinking about her as successor to Cleary and Blume. Looking at winners list, it jumped out.

I so enjoyed reading this! In fact I could not stop smiling as I read! Absolutely recommend for anyone with kids looking for books both to read together and independently. Ramona and her family are having a lot of the same problems kids experience in their families today, nearly 40 years later.

I loved the Ramona books when I was little - and I still do. I barely remembered this one but loved rereading it in Spanish.

Another great Ramona story.  I'm reading this series to my nieces and they are still loving it.  I asked them if they wanted to read another book, since we've read so many Ramona books now, but they insisted they needed to read more about Ramona.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been so moved to tears over such a sweet, nurturing wrap up (which just surprised me SO much) - so warm and comforting and lovely. Beverly Cleary weaves her words delightfully, and even as an adult I’m still affected by her work!

Another wonderful Ramona book. This book takes place in the Winter/ Spring of Ramona’s Second Grade year. Ramona longs to be grown up and her Mother’s girl. The ever patient Mrs. Quimby has to deal with an adolescent Beezus focusing on her looks and the ever imaginative Ramona who gives a box of Kleenex to the toddler Willa Jean, squeezes a whole tube of toothpaste out just because, wears pajamas to school and tries to run away.Bless you Mrs. Quimby for always being understanding, and encouraging your husband to go back to school. I for one hopes she gets some Me Time soon. Love you Beverly Cleary! ❤️

I think this was the only Ramona book we hadn't listened to in the car. Our library didn't have the CD's so we had to get it on Hoopla and I'm glad we did. Another entertaining read for all the kids 6-12. We recently watched the Beezus and Ramona movie, which I thought was so well done, and several of Ramona's antics from that movie were in this book - squeezing the toothpaste and wearing her pajamas to school. Fun listen. (June 2017)

* Read this to Jane, even though we just listened to it in the car this summer, she wanted to read it together. I don't mind reading Ramona with her; she's fun. (Nov/Dec 2017)
