The concept of a girl making a deal with a god and having to live out her life dealing with the consequences sounded interesting, but the execution wasn’t great. I found certain scenes to be too repetitive throughout the plot. Addie’s relationship with Luke was frustrating, it felt like she never learned from their interactions which made reading later scenes with them even more difficult to get through. It was too long. I liked the first 70% of the book but then it just kept repeating itself and I was over it by the end.

"They teach you growing up that you are only one thing at a time - angry,  lonely, content- but he's never found that to be true. He is a dozen things at once. "

This book made me feel many things. Intrigue, curiosity, adoration, suspense, wonder,  reckless abandon, frustration that Addie was never more into travel beyond parts of Europe and the US. Every step of the way the times being featured reflected  the social structures, values and expectations. Overall this was a fantastic reading experience and I loved the runaway thoughts popping up  throughout my days about Luc's potential influence in our real world (who else has gone out like Beethoven?!). Time to dive deep into this author!

This was a great book. I loved the characters, although at first I found Addie a little annoying since all she did was steal from other people, but I got to like her quickly.
I loved the development of the story, the rivalry between Addie and the demon and the relationship between Addie and Henry.

V.E. Schwab is a really good writer and she captivated me with this book. I’m really looking forward to reading more of her books.

i do agree w the other reviews that this book couldve been shorter. however, i think theres a beauty in drawing this story out. i think its written in a way that mirrors the life that addie larue happened to experience. the length and repetitive nature of this read going to show how annoying and repetitive her own immortality is. the poetry of this book made me smile quite a few times, and i have a feeling i will be left w a book hangover from this one.
