i'm not familiar with pride and prejudice (gasp, i know) so i had no idea what was the base story for this retelling. it might have impacted my enjoyment of this book.

i have read a lot of ya, i have read a lot of adult historical romance, but this was my first ya historical romance. and i'm not sure it's a combo that was doing it for me.

i enjoyed the trans rep, the supportive family members, the love interest not being a dick once he finds out about the multiple identities of the mc. but i was bored for most of it.

This was cute, but I was really frustrated by Oliver’s black and white thinking about surviving as a queer person.
He was so judgy about Charlotte getting married and I didn’t feel like the narrative challenged his beliefs about being true to yourself or dying enough. Especially in the 19th century, queer people have to make sacrifices and marry people they don’t love so that they can survive
I think i just wanted more nuance in his opinions overall, but I could just be growing out of YA

They were so cute 😭 I fell in love with both Oliver and Darcy so fast.

I love how many people Oliver had in his corner.

Someone took my favorite book and made it trans: and did it well!!!! Amazing story, I love the characters and it all just works. Somehow this book made me hate Mr Whickham more. Great book, can’t wait to read more from this author. Read all in one day!
