I saw the movie with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve as a teenager, so I was already familiar with the plot. I like the movie and I like the book. It's a fun thriller with lots of twists and turns.

One of the murders in Deathtrap is one of the eight "perfect" fictional murders mentioned in Eight Perfect Murders, which I recently read. I saw Deathtrap as a play probably close to when it came out in 1978, and I saw the movie in the theater when it came out as well. I decided to read the play after finishing Eight Perfect Murders. I remembered the first act of Deathtrap pretty well. (I definitely remembered that kiss in the movie!) I did not remember the second act or the ending at all.
The first act is strong, but the ending is quite lame.
