I see that Taylor Jenkins Reid loves to connect all her books. And I'm not mad about it because I'm kind of obsessed with the world she's created.

Really enjoyed this one even if the mention of a bunch of new names every chapter threw me off - I'm a simple gal, it takes me so long to get into a new book with loads of characters lol

Still, this one had me hooked and I couldn't put it down

The book has a pretty slow pace but the author’s writing style and short chapter length made it feel like it was moving along much faster.

When I was reading the book, I couldn’t put it down. After I put it down, I had trouble picking it up. Not sure that I’ve experienced that before. Overall I really liked it, I think.

Malibu Rising is slower paced than the other TJR books I’ve fallen in love with but the backstory and flashbacks are crucial to the development of the overall plot. An intense read for anyone with a complicated love for someone who has hurt them. TJR creates big themes of independence, agency, making your own closure, forgiving and when not to forgive, and how a destructive fire creates opportunity for renewal.
