So good! I loved learning about Alice Wong through her fun, creative, and informative memoir, and I learned so much from her essays. I have much work to do to confront my internalized ableism and am grateful for Wong’s teachings.

Alice Wong’s "Year of the Tiger" is a scrapbook-style memoir that blends essays, interviews, transcripts, comics, and photographs to share her experiences as a disabled Chinese American activist. Rather than following a traditional narrative, Wong presents reflections highlighting the complexities of disability and activism.
One of the most thought-provoking sections discusses how, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work became widely accepted for able-bodied individuals—a change that disabled activists had advocated for years. Her insights on systemic barriers and societal priorities were especially compelling. Additionally, I appreciated her reflections on childhood and how disability shaped her and others' activism.
However, the book’s fragmented format made the audiobook difficult to follow. In hindsight, I would have preferred a print or digital version to fully appreciate the visuals and nonlinear structure. Overall, it is a valuable and insightful read but best experienced in a traditional reading format.

This is by far one of the best books I've read. Alice is so relatable, intelligent and intriguing with her autobiography.
