What a wonderful and inspiring book! It’s amazing what an intelligent and informed leader is capable of accomplishing in spite of the constant roadblocks imposed by political opponents. Such a dramatic difference to the person who followed him.

I couldn't finish it guys, I made it 30% and it was so so long. And then the library took it back. I'm gonna finish with the audio course when available. But so far, obviously it's incredible and he was a thoughtful, hopeful, articulate, president who was actually intelligent and doing the job for the people and not himself. So.... It's amazing and making me sad at how events unfolded after.

This very much reads like he's defending every choice he ever made, but if I was criticized the way he was and then my successor was trump I'd probably do the same. I thought his point about Sarah Palin indicating we were moving away from wanting qualified politicians who told the truth was a good one. I was ready to give him an extra .25 for saying something negative about the Yankees but then he was like "I used to say f*g" so I didn't lmao. No need to say it now bro. Even in this book it's very obvious I don't agree with him on everything but also that he comes at things from a place of actually trying to do right. #throwback. He was in sped up mode the whole time of course. I was surprised it ends with Bin Laden I sort of thought the second term might be included in a book this long.

If all memoirs were written this way I’d read way more memoirs.

Is volume II going to be 2000 pages? Because by my count we are 701 pages in and only made it to May 4th 2011.

Long book but I love him so much more. I read Michelles after this, great contrast.

This was a beast of a book to read but well worth the time! I thoroughly enjoyed getting a deeper understanding of Obama’s presidential campaign run and first 2-3 years in office. I already knew being President was tough but this book really sets the stage. I applaud Obama on all he’s done, especially his resilience in dealing with uncooperative, ignorant, and sometimes racist republicans. The idealist in me loves and adores the idealist in him. And I look forward to reading part 2 of this book series that covers the remainder of his time in office.
