A great peak behind the curtain of how the office of the POTUS operates, both logistically and as a public relations organization. While full of great stories, some of the best moments are those of Sasha and Malia as a cut-away from the tenuous events of the presidency, both for him and the reader.

I really enjoyed this. I grew up in a household where politics were fear based and Obama's own account of the first half of his own presidency made sense of a lot of my own childhood fears and confusion. Especially as a young teenager.

I especially enjoyed two things here: First of all the very personal style and touch to it. I loved the quotes and conversation extracts and the multitude of anecdotes, that share a sense of what it means to become or be president. Secondly, I enjoyed the broader perspective that this book draws out: the smaller extracts of histories of individual states or people and boiled down context that‘s shared. This definitely helped me understand and see broader themes! At times I found the book a bit lengthy, but overall a very recommended read!

This book took me a long time, because its well, long. Obama is very wordy, but covering multiple years of a presidency and campaign is dense material. Some parts were a bit dull but essential to the story. Its great to read a no nonsense description of those years that we could only witness through the media.

pretty cool look into Obama's path to presidency, the grind of his early career, presidential campaign, and his first term
it's a really long and dense book and he recaps things with granularity.
a lot of what he talks about seems to show that even the most powerful man in the world has to put up with a bunch of bullshit and messiness

10/10 give me fourteen of them right now !!!!!!!! this was so good i loved hearing his presidency from his own words

obama 2004 dnc you will always be famous
