I'm trying to read more non-english language books this year. This was translated from Hebrew. An interesting thriller - came to quite an abrupt end.

The first 2/3 of the book were good, but the ending felt rushed, predictable, and didn't fit with the pace and style of the first 2/3. That was irritating. I also didn't like any of the characters.

A lot of potential in this one but unfortunately none of it fully landed for me. I enjoyed the messages and viewpoints delivered from each character but disliked the characters themselves. I thought the translation was fine but felt like the ‘humour’ was lost on an English audience. The concept is fresh and thriller-ready but for the most part The Others doesn’t feel like a thriller in its entirety, marketed as such but reading more as feminist contemporary fiction. Some editing and more focused chapters could have gone a long way - not a terrible read but it didn’t excel in any aspect for me!

Excellent and educational for a murder mystery. Lots learned about Jewish and Israeli culture.

Unfortunately DNF this book. I tried but just couldn’t get into the idea of it. The main character felt unlikeable and the translation made the narrative disjointed in places.
